Charrette #1

On March 10, 2009 the Brighouse project team held their first design charrette and established the following Goals Statements:

1. Enable all Learners


2. Welcome Every Student
   
3. Policy of “Inclusion”


4. Integrated Resources “Packages” = curriculum


5. Goal of “Teaching Students to Teach Themselves”
   
6. Promote collaboration between students and students, teachers and teachers, and students and teachers
   
7. Campus should be “inviting” and welcome Community/Parents


8. “Building(s) should Build the Community”
   
9. We like to hear the Music in the hallways


10. Existing “hallways” are Galleries


11. Promote and maintain commitment to the Performing and Fine arts Programs
    
12. Provide a strong connection to the environment
    
13. “Students should understand their building(s)”


14. Make the building legible - the building could teach and tell a story
    
15. Sustainable Project Goals - desire to pursue the highest levels of sustainable design, strategies and operations as well as potential for a "District Energy System”
    
16. “Building should convey a Sense of Collaboration”
    
17. Education should be transparent and thereby welcoming


18. Promote “Self Directed Learning”
